Name of Training : 8-Hour Domestic Violence Screening Training for Mediators
Training Description : This 8-hour State Court Administrative Office (SCAO) approved training is designed to teach mediators how to screen divorce and custody cases for domestic violence to determine if mediation is appropriate. This training is a required supplemental training to the 40-Hour Domestic Relations Mediator Training. By the end of this training participants will be able to: 1. Understand the nature and dynamics of domestic violence. 2. Conduct the initial screening for domestic violence and on-going screening throughout the mediation sessions. 3. Determine when it is appropriate to conduct mediation. 4. Safely terminate the mediation session when issues of domestic violence surface in mediation.

Comments : This training is an 8-Hour Advanced Mediator Training ONLY for Civil Mediators or Domestic Mediators who previously took the 4-hour domestic violence screening training. Verification of attending a 4-hour domestic violence training is required.

Audience : Mediators who have completed a 40-Hour SCAO Approved Mediator Training Program.
